A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Dear ELE Families,

We were so productive in our first full week back in school!  Our students are finishing up MAP (K-5) and Reading 3D (K-3) assessments and we are excited with the progress that has been made since September.  Report cards will be sent home February 6 for elementary schools in CMS.  Students in grades K-3 will also receive a copy of the Reading 3D Progress Report.

I know that many members of our school community are hearing different messages about the work on the Student Assignment Review.  CMS district leaders are committed to a transparent process and seeking feedback from families.  Superintendent Ann Clark will be hosting a coffee at Elizabeth Lane on February 10 from 8:00-9:30 AM.  Our School Leadership Team will also be hosting a meeting with Scott McCully,  CMS Executive Director of Planning and Student Placement.  The date and time for that meeting will be shared as soon as it is scheduled.

Please help us with morning carpool!  With ELE being an early start school, it is difficult for many staff members to get to school earlier than 7:10.  We have responsibilities with our families, commute times, etc. that we need to take care of in the early morning.  Please do not enter the ELE parking lot to wait in the carpool line until after 7:10 AM.  Our carpool line has extended onto Highway 51 before 7:10 several days over the past two weeks.  This backup impacts staff members who cannot enter the parking lot safely, neighborhood residents who need to enter or exit from Elizabeth Lane, and buses that need to enter by 7:20 to keep on schedule for their South Charlotte routes.  Parents may not drop off students before 7:15 AM and those waiting in line before that time create a traffic backup on our campus, Highway 51, and on the neighborhood streets that surround our school.  Please help us be good citizens to our neighbors and allow our staff time to arrive on campus in the morning.

I hope that you have a great weekend!  Thank you for all that you do to support the ELE Family.

Sincerely,

Crystal Lail
