A Message from our Principal
Dear ELE Families,
Please join our staff in congratulating the ELE Teacher of the Year, Emily Brewster! Mrs. Brewster joined the ELE staff last December and has been an amazing asset to our team. Mrs. Brewster teaches fifth grade literacy and social studies and supports her team with technology integration. She was nominated and selected by her peers for this well-deserved honor.
We are also excited to welcome Bonnie Sheppard and Caroline Green to the ELE team! Mrs. Sheppard is serving as an interim teacher for Mrs. Platner’s class while she is away on maternity leave. Mrs. Platner (Mr. Platner and big brother Logan) welcomed Ameila Ann to their family on Friday, January 15. Caroline Greer is working with us as a full-time student teacher from East Carolina University. Ms. Greer is working with Mrs. Wright’s Kindergarten class and we are excited to have her learning alongside of us.
During this period of remote learning, most of our school staff members are being encouraged to work from home when possible. Our custodians are on site daily and the school office is staffed between the hours of 8 AM – 2 PM. We are currently restricting campus access to staff only and no visitors are allowed inside of the building. Families who are picking up or returning materials should use the drop off boxes located on the sidewalk or ring the doorbell for assistance (between 8 AM – 2 PM).
Our staff is incredibly grateful to the PTA and for your support of the All For One Fund! Our teachers have been able to purchase tools and materials that they need to make remote learning more efficient through the classroom support fund, and the newest resources provided (Boom Cards and PearDeck) will help us engage students more effectively. We are really excited for a major campus update that will be coming…stay tuned for additional details about our (much-needed) field improvement!
Thank you for all that you do to support the ELE Family. Have a wonderful weekend!
PTA President’s Points
Happy Friday Hawks!
I hope everyone had a wonderful week! It certainly was nice to have a little warmer temperatures and lots of sunshine for a change! It’s hard to believe but there is only week left in January! In some ways the days can feel so slow and routine and in other ways it feels like time is slipping away. Keep up the good work and finish January strong and may February bring a little more love and joy to us all!
Have a great weekend!

Students may get their items once Curbside Service resumes and/or students return to the building. Books may be returned to ELE during school days between 8:00-2:00 into the ‘Library Book Return’ collection bins.
