A Message from Our Principal

Dear ELE Families,

I know we are all on information overload these days, so this week I’ve decided to share some happy ELE Staff Family news instead adding more “need to knows.”

Shannon Bondurant, TD Teacher, welcomed baby Isaly in August.

Jennifer (Huber) Wanner, 2nd grade teacher, welcomed baby Mila in September.

Marian Bryant, 1st grade teacher,  welcomed baby John in September as well.

Katina Kondilis, 1st grade teacher, was married in September, and is now Mrs. Coggins

Mandy Brock, PE Teacher, was married in October and is now Mrs. Fields.

Although 2020 has been an exceptionally challenging year, there is still much to celebrate!  Most elementary educators chose to work with young children because they bring so much JOY to our lives.  Interacting with your children is what keeps us grounded and gives us purpose.  I am so thankful that we have had the opportunity to improve our online teaching skills and engagement strategies over the past few months.  We are more ready than I would have ever thought possible to enter the hybrid learning model.  Full remote or attending in-person, our Hawks will continue SOARING!

Thank you for all that you do to support the ELE Family.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Crystal Lail

Happy Friday Hawks! Quarter two, week one, DONE!

I know that this has been a stressful, tedious week for many! Teacher changes, decisions being made about remote and in person learning and lots of information being shared! Hang in there! Right now is tough as we prepare for a new way to learn and adjustments and information keep coming! I am so thankful to our amazing administration team for the proactive approach it is taking to making the necessary changes and communicating so effectively! This cannot be said for all schools in our area, we are so fortunate to have such a strong team!

Don’t forget that in addition to teaching lessons daily our terrific teachers are preparing for the big shift to in person learning, let them know how much you appreciate their hard work and dedication to our children by writing a quick email, dropping by a note of encouragement or mailing a sweet card! Notes and cards can be mailed to school, 121 Elizabeth Lane, Matthews, NC 28105.

Rollin Roast was a huge hit as always, this past week. Thank you, Rollin Roast for treating our staff!

Monday, Chick-fil-A Arboretum will be generously giving grab-and-go sandwich lunches for all staff! Thank you, Chick-fil-A Arboretum for partnering with the PTA to support our staff!

And on Wednesday our very own ELE PTA Hospitality Committee will be distributing  treat bags for all of the staff! Thank you to each committee chair, member and donation volunteers for helping!

We love and so appreciate all the teachers and staff at ELE!
