A Message from Our Principal
Dear ELE Families,
WE ARE READY!! We are ready to welcome in-person students back next week on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. We are ready to continue a consistent, highly engaging experience for our Full Remote Academy students. We are ready to host voting during a Presidential election year. (That’s a teacher workday and most of our staff will work remotely!)
We are ready, in large part, because of the incredible efforts of our CMS District Leadership Team. We have made an intentional effort at ELE to prepare for in-person learning using only state and district-provided resources along with staff manpower. We did not request to use PTA funding because it’s important to us that we hold true to our commitment to equity. As I’ve shared before, we will ensure that our students in Plan B and Full Remote Academy receive the same level of priority in our school’s focus on excellence. We also believe that it is important for our families to know that all CMS schools have the same resources available to provide the PPE, campus preparations and other precautions needed for a safe return to school.
I can also confidently say that we are ready because of the tremendous efforts of our staff and families over the past four months. We wouldn’t be as ready without your trust and understanding as we encountered difficulties along the way. I know that the road ahead will bring new challenges, but we will get through those too!
This year has been the most difficult AND most valuable in my leadership journey thus far! Thank you for letting me know what works, and sharing your feedback when things aren’t working well. As we move forward, the ELE team will continue communicating, listening, and adjusting to make the best decisions for our students and families. Thank you for helping me learn to lead the ELE Family more effectively and for the sacrifices you’re making to keep us moving forward together.
Thank you for all that you do to support the ELE Family. Have a wonderful weekend!
Crystal Lail, Principal
A Message from Our Assistant Principal
Hello ELE Families,
We are so excited to begin welcoming students back to campus this coming Monday, November 2, 2020! If your student will be riding the bus to or from school, please remember that you will be required to complete the Parent Symptoms Screening Authorization Form (Attestation Form). A link to the document can be found on the ELE webpage. You will need to complete a weekly Attestation Form for each student in your household who rides the bus. If you have any questions related to transportation, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to seeing your students soon!
PTA President’s Points
Happy Friday Hawks!
I hope everyone had a nice week and has adjusted to their new classes if changes were made. How exciting and a little bit overwhelming to have in person learning starting Monday! I know my fourth grader is thrilled to be getting back to school, seeing her teachers and friends! While it will surely be a different experience from what she is used to, it will be comforting to reconnect! I know and trust that ELE has and will continue to strive for the highest standard in safety for our children and staff who are returning! Remember to pack your patience along with symptom screenings, school supplies and charged chrome books each morning!
Keep those words of encouragement coming! Whether you have emailed, mailed or dropped off a note to your teachers, your kind words are greatly appreciated! And don’t forget about the rest of the ELE staff, there’s not an individual there not working hard to make the best of our unique school year!
Thank you so much to Chick-fil-A Arboretum providing a delicious lunch this past Monday! It’s the little things, like not having to pack your lunch, that mean so much!
And WOW, did y’all ever answer the call to give! Thank you so much to the ELE PTA Hospitality Committee and all of you who gave snacks so generously! What a spread of delicious treats you created to get our staff over the hump and finish the week strong!
Have a nice weekend, enjoy Halloween and stay safe!

Your support of the PTA helps in so many ways. We are able to reimburse Teachers for some items they have personally purchased to help teach our children. This includes rolling carts to navigate between classrooms and helpful computer accessories. In addition, the PTA recently purchased 3 extra laptops to allow our Teachers to “Press on and Keep Teaching” even when their assigned devices require an untimely repair.
We recognize this continues to be a unique school year and we are adapting with a growth mindset! Please visit ELEPTA.ORG to learn more information and consider giving a donation today!

While the role looks different this year, Room Parents will still serve as a liaison between teachers, PTA and parents. Hawks Committee – Supply Donations
Hello from the Helpful Hawks committee:
Our wonderful teachers and staff are in need of extra of certain supplies as they prepare for our students’ arrival (any brand fine but new only please):
Kid size masks
Dry erase markers
There is a box out front of school labeled “supply donations” for anyone who is able to drop off this week. Starting next week (11/2), your students can put them in the box in the lobby.
Changes to ELE Media Center Circulation and Curbside Pickup
Students who attend school on A or B days, no longer need to use Curbside Service. K-2nd graders may check out up to two library books and 3rd-5th graders may check out up to 3 library books from the ELE Media Center. The books will be delivered to the student’s homeroom. Full Remote Academy students may check out up to 10 books. They may continue to use Curbside Service to pick up library books. Please note the new day/time: Wednesdays between 12:00 and 2:00. Books may be returned/picked up by the outer Media Center door which is to the left of the main entrance. All students should return books within two weeks. Click here for directions on accessing and using Destiny Discover, our library management site and for more details about ELE Media Center library book circulation.

Keep inspiring Hawks!
Emmie McAllister – Poem
Halloween, Halloween oh so fun
All the treats all the scares bring candy by the ton.
During this crisis you can be safe out there,
Stay 6 feet away and know people care.
Witches and goblins can be scary too,
Especially when they pop out and say BOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
