Meet your PTA Board of Directors for the 2021-2022 school year!
Look for our smiling faces around school…or on our PTA Zoom meetings.
President: Lauren Stroupe
Hey ELE Family! My name is Lauren Stroupe and I am honored to serve as your PTA President this year. This will be my third year on the Board, I have served as Secretary and VP of Fundraising prior to this year.
My family moved to Matthews from Raleigh in July of 2015, as my son, Boone, entered 2nd grade. The next year my daughter, Mary Elizabeth, joined the ELE family as a Kindergartener. Our family has loved our time at ELE and found that Boone was well prepared for middle school at SCMS last year!
Before having children, I graduated from Meredith College with a BS in Child Development and a K-6 Teaching License. I taught elementary school, Grades K and 5th, in Wake and Franklin counties. My husband, Charles, and I made the decision for me to stay home once having children, but my love for teaching continued and my volunteer hours picked up dramatically! At ELE I have enjoyed volunteering in the media center, as Book Fair coordinator, as a chaperone for field trips and assisting teachers with various class projects. When not volunteering at ELE I enjoy teaching classes in the Children’s Ministry at our church, going to the beach, hiking and camping, playing with our yellow Lab, Raleigh, and watching college sports (Go Wolfpack)!
Although no longer in my own classroom, I still love being a part of education and I appreciate the opportunities the ELE PTA provides for parents to be actively involved in their children’s education and give back to the teachers and staff who work so hard for our children.
I hope you will join in partnership with the PTA this year as we work to support our children, staff and teachers!
Treasurer: Heidi Keller
Heidi Keller moved to Charlotte from NYC six years ago and is excited to be involved in the PTA this year serving as Treasurer. She graduated from NC State College of Textiles and came from a family of public educators. Her two daughters will be in 2nd grade and Kindergarten this Fall.
Secretary: Amy Udoff
This is Amy’s first year to serve on the ELE PTA Board of Directors. Amy will be the secretary this year. Amy is a Charlotte native who graduated from Providence High School and also worked as an elementary school teacher in CMS for 9 years. She now owns a Women’s Clothing Boutique, ShopRosieJ.com . Amy has a 2nd grade daughter, Olivia, and a son, Jacob who is in Kindergarten. Amy enjoys spending time with family and friends, their mini goldendoodle, Lexi, and searching for the next place to explore with her family!
VP Fundraising: Stephanie Schoenen
This is Stephanie’s first year on the ELE PTA; however, she has been volunteering as a room parent since her oldest started Kindergarten two years ago and began her three year term as Parent Representative on the SLT last year. Stephanie now has a second grader, a first grader, and a three year old that will be starting preschool in the fall. Originally from Philadelphia, Stephanie earned her BS in Accounting at the Pennsylvania State University, but made a career change when she realized her heart belonged in the classroom. She earned her Masters in Elementary Education from DePaul University in Chicago, and taught in Fairfax County, VA, as a first grade teacher. Now that her kids are getting older, Stephanie is very excited to help out at ELE in any way that she can. When she is not wrangling three children, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, traveling, and sleeping.
VP Programs/Events: Ann-Margret Gidley
Ann-Margret is the proud mom of two ELE students: Bea, 2nd grade; and King, kindergarten. She grew up in Ohio but spent most of her adult life in NYC. She has lived in Matthews for two years and is still enjoying discovering new things and meeting new people. Her professional background is in law and non-profits. She is the co-founder and Director of Little Citizens Club, a non-profit that connects families with kid-friendly volunteer opportunities. As VP of Events at ELE this year, Ann-Margret hopes to help everyone at ELE have fun and make special memories.
Advocacy Committee Chair: Sarah Johnson
This is Sarah’s second year on the PTA board serving as Nominating Committee Chair last year and Advocacy Committee Chair this year. She joined the PTA in 2018 when her son started at ELE. She has previously volunteered as a Room Parent, at the Greeter Desk, for the Book Fair, and in the Media Center. Sarah and her husband Cedric moved to Charlotte from Lexington, KY in 2017 and have two sons, Devin who is 4th grade, and Miles who is in 2nd grade. She majored in Political Science at Clemson (Go Tigers!) and worked in banking and corporate travel before becoming a stay at home mom. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys reading, walking, the beach, and baking.
Audit Committee Chair: Rachel DeMartine
This is my first year on the PTA board. I have a BS in Accounting from UNC-Charlotte and currently work in the financial services industry. My husband Andrew and I have three great kids – Hanna (3rd grade) and Edward (1st grade) who are at ELE, and Abigail who will be a Kindergartener in 2022. We love being a part of the ELE family and are excited for a new school year!
Finance Committee Chair: Laurie Moore

They have 2 children, Brennan who is in the 5th grade and Madelyn who is in 1st grade at Elizabeth Lane. In her spare time Laurie enjoys traveling, boating, and spending time with family and friends. Professionally, Laurie works part time as an Accounting Manager for a small family business in the Charlotte area.
Nominating Committee Chair: Kehler Wilson
This is my first year on the PTA board serving as Nominating Committee Chair. I joined the PTA in 2017 when my daughter started kindergarten. I have previously volunteered as a Room Parent, as the Box Tops and Retail Rewards Chair, in the Media Center, and as the Boo Hoo Breakfast and Beginner’s Night Chair. I am married to Ben and have 2 daughters at ELE – a 2nd grader and a 4th grader. Until very recently, I was a preschool teacher, but I am excited to be joining the ELE staff as an assistant.
